Starting this log

First entry, so this one's more "why" than "what happened today."

I've spent the last few years running infrastructure for a fintech platform — cloud provisioning, Kubernetes, the GitOps pipeline that deploys everything, and the on-call rotation that comes with all of it. Most of that work is invisible by design: it's working correctly when nobody notices it exists. That's the job, but it also means the interesting problem-solving that happens day to day rarely gets written down anywhere.

This log is an attempt to fix that. The plan is simple:

• Daily log (this section) — a short, same-day entry on what actually happened: an incident, a deploy, a debugging session, a decision that took longer to make than it should have. Unfiltered, written close to when it happened rather than cleaned up in hindsight.
• Tutorials — longer pieces that explain how something actually works, when I have enough distance from a problem to explain it clearly.
• Tips — short, specific things that took me too long to learn, written so they take you a lot less time.

No promise that every day is interesting enough to write about. Some days the most honest entry would be "renewed a cert, watched three dashboards, nothing broke." That's fine — that's also what the job actually looks like, and it's worth showing that alongside the incident-postmortem days.
